Culture cloning - Markers to witness the passage of time.
Diluting the artist's vision by satisfying the infrastructural needs. The sculpture as a material, as a proxy to contextualise the emptiness of the space, as a placeholder to the next car dealership.
R: As all these places, Ipswich, Ilford, Richmond... in parts are similar, the role of the sculpture should be to define and bring character to each area.
N: But they actually do the opposite; it feels like an innate human drive(need?) to mark the land, put a name on it, make it a property of someone instead of letting it just be #nature
MONUMENTS AS CULTURAL PLACEHOLDERS, not necessarily representative for the surrounding socio-cultural environment or an identity marker.
lol
The Arctic Henge... a translocation of monuments, as Eiffel exists in Vegas, China, etc. if you were to make a Stonehange in Iceland it would make total sense (contxtual).
You can make 5 actually and claim that the one in UK is a fake.
History will buy into it.
re: GitHub archiving an entire human history of code in Svalbard.
